What is an ATS?
An applicant tracking system is the software employers use to collect and filter applications. Most resumes are parsed by one before a person reads them, and anything the parser cannot read is effectively invisible.
Why did my resume score badly?
The most common cause is a resume exported as an image or a scan, which a parser reads as a blank page. After that it is usually missing an Experience, Education or Skills heading, descriptions that don't open with what you did, or any measurable results.
Is this really free?
Yes. There is no sign-in, no upload limit and no paid tier on this tool. Every check is a rule applied to the text in your PDF, so it costs nothing to run and gives the same score for the same file every time.
Does it only reward resumes made with OneCV?
No. Every check reads the text in your PDF, not its layout. Bullets or paragraphs, 'Jun 2023' or '06/2023', 'Experience' or 'Work History', one page or two — a resume built in Word, Canva or anywhere else is scored on what it says. We test this by scoring the same career written in several different formats and requiring the results to match.
Do you keep my resume?
No. The file is read in memory to produce the score and is never written to disk or stored. If you choose the optional AI review, the extracted text is sent to our AI provider to generate it; that step needs a sign-in and is never automatic.
How is the score calculated?
Eleven checks, each weighted by how much it actually affects a screen. Whether the text can be extracted at all carries the most weight, because nothing else matters if the parser sees an empty document.
